Our Volunteers Rule!

We owe the success of this race to all the terrific volunteers. They give a significant amount of their time - they get out in the "thick of it" on race day and they make the event a lot of fun! We encourage family and friends of racers and anyone else 18 or older to help out. Many of our folks come out year after year. We are so grateful for such an outstanding crew.

If you would like to volunteer for this event, or know someone who might, please let us know! We use approximately 80 people serving in various exciting capacities. Because volunteers play such a crucial role in this race, we ask that if someone has not volunteered with this event before, they attend one of two brief training sessions, so we can be ready to go on race day.

Please also review this website for all race details, so you'll know what you're getting into.

Volunteer Meeting Dates
A Volunteer training meeting will be held on at the Nature Center in Springfield. This is typically held in conjunction with the orienteering workshop for the racers and as soon as that meeting room has been reserved, we will update this page with the information. The meeting usually goes from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. All first time volunteers are strongly urged to attend this meeting to find out what is expected of them. Returning volunteers are encouraged to attend to learn some of the details of the race course which is a new location for this year. There will be a lot of interesting changes in store this year!!
